About Betty

Betty is a senior lawyer and Senior Associate with Estate First Lawyers with over 20 years’ experience in all aspects of estate law, and focussing on estate planning and estate administration law. She enjoys meeting clients, discussing their wishes and listening to their concerns. Betty finds great satisfaction in patiently taking clients through a smooth and informed process, no matter how complex, to give them understanding and peace of mind.

Betty is fluent in conversational Cantonese.

Education & Credentials

Betty is highly credentialled and is one of only thirty-eight Queensland Law Society Accredited Specialists in Succession law, which she achieved in 2007.

She holds several degrees, including a Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Laws and a Masters of Laws from the University of Queensland. Betty is a member of the Queensland Law Society.

Betty has been practicing exclusively in the area of succession law for over 20 years.

Betty has deep experience in estate planning law, including complex Wills, testamentary trusts in Wills, estate planning for family trusts, companies and self managed super funds, advising on estate taxation and drafting documents relating to incapacity. She brings her specialist knowledge to assist blended families, clients needing protective trusts for vulnerable beneficiaries and clients wanting to include philanthropic wishes in their estate plans.

Betty also specialises in estate administration and has administered numerous estates, including rural estates and estates with international assets.

Speaking & Presentations

Betty regularly presents at legal conferences on her pet topics of estate planning and estate administration to lawyers, financial advisers and accountants, including the QLD Law Society Succession Conference, and legal education events run by Lexisnexis and Legalwise.
