About Kathleen (Kat)
Kat is a lawyer in the Estate First Lawyers team and has over 10 years’ experience in the areas of Wills and estates, along with charity and commercial law. Kat decided early in her legal career that she wanted to include the areas of estate planning and estate administration as a major part of her work, and made the decision that she wanted to work with Estate First so that she could practice exclusively in these two areas.
Kat has a rigorous and thorough approach to the law, and is known for her ‘eagle eye’. She combines this with an understanding approach that makes clients feel comfortable that they are being listened to and that their estate wishes will be accurately and fully put in place.
Education & Credentials
Kat was admitted as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of Qld in 2013 and admitted as a solicitor in the High Court of Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Media and Communications (Distinction) from QUT along with a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from QUT.
She is a member of the Queensland Law Society.
With her 9 years of post-admission experience, Kat has dealt with all aspects of estate planning, including strategies to avoid claim, drafting testamentary trusts in Wills, and providing estate planning advice for superannuation. Kat also has significant experience in advising on charitable trusts.
In addition, Kat is proficient in the area of estate administration, advising executors on all aspects of the process, including advice to executors, grants of probate and letters of administration, distributions to beneficiaries and all other aspects of the estate administration process.

Kathleen has experience in presenting to client groups in person and in online presentations. She most enjoys helping clients to have clarity and peace of mind in all areas of Wills and estates.
